[samscommunity] Benedict Concert Choir to Perform at St. Andrews Middle

MESSAGE FROM ST. ANDREWS MIDDLE SCHOOL:


The Benedict College Concert Choir has been dedicated to the preservation of 
African-American music throughout the history of the College.  The choir is 
recognized for its stylistic diversity and originality, performing works 
ranging from anthems, opera and oratorio choruses, African- American 
spirituals, classical and contemporary gospel, and interpretations of Broadway 
and popular tunes.  The choir's credits include performances with poet Maya 
Angelou, actor Clifton Davis, Gospel recording artist BeBe Winans, the South 
Carolina Philharmonic Orchestra, the Savannah Symphony Orchestra, and numerous 
television and radio broadcasts. Additionally, the choir recorded a holiday 
video, A Christmas Tribute-1990, dedicated and sent to the U.S. Troops serving 
in the Persian Gulf War; an inspirational video for Magic Johnson in 1991; and 
is in current production of its first compact disc.

The members of the Benedict College Concert Choir will share their talents with 
the students of St. Andrews Middle School  in a celebration of Black History 
Month.  This event will take place on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at 1:30 PM 
in the Lecture Hall of St. Andrews Middle School.  If you have any questions,
