Richland One is assisting the 100 Black Men of Greater Columbia and State Farm
Insurance Company in sponsoring the Saturday Leadership Academy for middle and
high school African American males.
The Saturday Academy is a new long-term mentoring program that will offer young
men guidance in making good decisions, personal discipline, setting goals and
time management. Youngsters selected to participate in the program also will
receive advice and training in getting a job, learning better study habits and
maybe even the chance at a college scholarship.
Meetings are held on Saturdays at Richland One's Heyward Careerand Technology
Center, 3560 Lynhaven Drive. Parents interested in getting more information
about the dates and times of the meetings should contact Tony Brown, Executive
Director of the 100 Black Men of Greater Columbia, at 540-1885.
