I am sending this to this group because my intent is not to 'broadcast'
my questions of my experiences with Cyanogen to the world. This seems to
be a small enough local group.
As some of you know I have been having problems guiding with Meade's
Envisage program. I decided to try MaximDL. Doug George, I think the
owner and founder of Cyanogen, has always been friendly, and very
helpful. It is his employees that seem to have a chip on their shoulder,
if that is the right expression to use here. On more than one occasion
one of the employees that I have been getting help from makes comments
that have the effect of rubbing ones nose in it and making one feel
stupid for asking the question (of course, if that is what he is
attempting to do it has no effect on me except to irritate me for having
to deal with him). Perhaps since these are individuals from Canada in a
slightly different culture this is the way they talk.
Then another employee criticized and castigated me for needing a 'third'
trial licenses. The first trial license I got around July last year but
a day or two after I got it some things happened in my life that I knew
would prevent me from testing it out. I never even downloaded MaximDL
and asked Cyanogen if they could retract the trial license within a day
or two after I got it. Then, in March of this year I contacted Cyanogen
to get some information in preparation for when I needed another trial
license, and clearly stated in the email message I was not ready for it
yet. I didn't ask for it at that point but it was sent to me the next
day. I could not fully test out MaximDL's guiding capabilities because
I was still doing work on the telescope and we had very cloudy windy
weather many days during that time period (March 22-April 22). Cyanogen
is issuing me a third trial license, but their employee chooses to view
the two previous trial licenses as two full trial periods and then
criticizes me for needing a third one even though he has email messages
where I fully explained the situation.
If it were not for the fact that Cyanogen may be one of the few
companies that have what I need I would go elsewhere. Has anyone had
similar experiences with Cyanogen?
Stan
