I haven't been observing long enough for it to matter, frankly, where we go.
I'm still working on the Messier list, heh heh. Hovatter, Dirt Road,
Saddle, Flat Iron -- I don't care. They are all an improvement over my back
yard.
But, if you need/want someone with an SQM, a GPS and a ham radio, or just
someone to go drive out somewhere, consider me a volunteer.

Maybe I'm confused over the number of sites. Reading your email tells me
that Saddle Mountain and Gas Line are one in the same. I thought you and
Jenn had found some promising roads off of I-10. There is still dirt
boulevard. The questions I keep seeing pop up are what, where and how high
the light domes are. Lights from cars and Nuke plants and overall sky
quality and where people were questioning the value of that quality if it
was done on separate nights.
Your point about your SQM data is well made and sounds like we would be
splitting hairs on that one. For me personally if Steve and AJ say it's good
then it's good. If others were looking for an "equal" evaluation then it
wouldn't take much effort to get a couple of groups of individuals who want
to break out their toys (radios, sqm's, etc.) and go "play " for an evening
while observing to collect data, pictures and such to bring to the meeting
and showcase each site. So, hard fast scientific value, nah, probably not.
For show and tell, why not...

only *two* Thrid Quarter sites under scrutiny, aren't there? They are Dirt
Blvd. and Saddle Mtn. (gas line). I'm not objecting to simultaneously
observing at the two sites as much as I'm puzzling over the value of it.
Dirt Blvd. will likely be a tenth of a magnitude or so brighter due to it
being a bit closer to Phoenix. If it has no local lights, like Saddle Mtn.,
then the only remaining factors are nearby traffic and drive time.

observations, Saddle Mtn. is pretty much fully assessed. The only remaining
concern is possibly getting farther from Dobbins Road. It seems like the
only remaining thing that needs to be done is an assessment of Dirt Blvd.
similar to Rick's and Matt's.
