[sac-forum] Re: Wednesday Night's Site Evaluations

I was only including the Antenna site for another possibility for new moon observations. I don't mind the longer drive for what would be a darker site. Of course I live in Avondale and I can just jump on the I-10 and be there sooner than anyone living on the east side of town (drive time) I have been to the Dirt Blvd site and am still looking forward to attending a night at the Gas Line site.

I would like to chime in here on the idea that three members of this club have the means to communicate with each other while observing at each site on one night.

If the drive to Hovatter is indeed significantly longer, there are really only
*two* Thrid Quarter sites under scrutiny, aren't there? They are Dirt Blvd.
and Saddle Mtn. (gas line). I'm not objecting to simultaneously observing at
the two sites as much as I'm puzzling over the value of it. Dirt Blvd. will
likely be a tenth of a magnitude or so brighter due to it being a bit closer to
Phoenix. If it has no local lights, like Saddle Mtn., then the only remaining
factors are nearby traffic and drive time.

I think that with Peter's and my SQM measurements and Rick's and Matt's
observations, Saddle Mtn. is pretty much fully assessed. The only remaining
concern is possibly getting farther from Dobbins Road. It seems like the only
remaining thing that needs to be done is an assessment of Dirt Blvd. similar to
Rick's and Matt's.
