[sac-forum] Re: Useful enhancement

Dan, yes it is so appropriate. Reminds me of a discussion some years ago about the Moiston Theory.

Forward any like that in the future.

Clear skies - yeah,

For those who are not members of the Argo Navis (DSC) Yahoo group, I thought
this suggestion was appropriate in view of our weather experiences during
the last few months:

enhancements to AN

Gary,

Are there any plans to introduce any feature that clears clouds away?
For those of us in the UK (and AZ) we would welcome such an enhancement.

I would suggest both an automatic and manual method using the Argo
Navis, perhaps turning the scroll wheel only so far, just allows a few
sucker holes to appear. Turning it all the way might simply be too much
for the rain gods to bear and it might backfire on us.

Would this require any additional power or CPU requirements beyond what
is in the AN? I don't use an external power pack, but would be happy to
purchase an additional extension cable so that I could link my AN to,
say perhaps, the nearest nuclear power station if that is required. I'm
unclear as to the CPU requirements for this, I understand that you have
quite a high powered CPU (ARM possibly?) inside? Would this be
sufficient for such an enhancement or would we need an additional
instruction set, something similar to the SSE3 on Intel processors?

One concern I do have is that if the rain gods do heap revenge back on
us, is the Argo Navis fully waterproof for such an eventuality? I'm a
Scuba instructor and so I feel I personally am prepared for the wet
onslaught, but am worried that the AN would become submerged. Are there
any plans to make the AN fully waterproof, perhaps down to 50m "just in
case"?

I suppose a further feature that may help here is the "sacrifice
option". This may appease the gods. There could be a couple of
scrollable lists, perhaps starting at small animals, moving up to larger
animals (e.g. irritating neighbours who leave bright floodlights) and
then finishing with promising your first born to whichever deity is
appropriate. I think this would be perfect for a user-catalogue here, we
could provide our own list, specifically tailored to you own gods.

Am interested if this is planned and what the timescale is? Please ask
if you need any further information. I am also prepared to be a beta
tester if this is forthcoming. I have my buds of garlic around my neck.
