Does anyone have knowledge of the Spectrum brand of telescopes - I ran
into someone interested to sell one.
I did not see the scope, but did see the manual (printed in Japan).
It's a 114mm Newtonian, 1000mm fl, f8.8 cope mounted on a GEM on top of
a wooden tripod. The manual describes the format as "catadioptric,"
versus Newtonian. In the picture, the finder scope assembly looks like
a long cannon mounted in a half-sphere dome - most unusual in
appearance. The finder is used by looking into the end of the "cannon"
tube that is elevated about 20° toward the rear of the scope.
