[sac-forum] Re: Site off of Courthouse Road

I have high hopes for it, tho light from the NE may be overwhelming, I hope
not, we'll see. On the AZ Atlas Gazeteer it is in the NW quadrant of a huge
island of BLM land, prob the closest acceptable you are going to find, and
nestled up to Saddle Mountain (3037 ft) which blocks the PV plant. You could
call it the Saddle Mtn Site.

  Howdy SAC;

  AJ and I did some looking around for a site for the club to use and we have a
prospect. The good news is that it is only half a mile of dirt road and an
easy drive off the freeway. The bad news is that is overlooks the freeway in
the distance. But, Palo Verde nuclear plant and some of the lights of Phoenix
appear to be blocked to the east. We will try and get a trip out there once
the Moon is out of the sky an see what we can see. This is definitely going to
be an easier drive than the Dirt Blvd. Site. AJ was able to see the opening (a
large desert pavement) that we found using the Google Earth software.

  Clear Skies;

  Directions to Courthouse Road Site

  Take I-10 west to the Tonopah exit, Exit 94 or 411th Ave. Turn left (south)
over the freeway and travel 2.5 miles to a stop sign at Salome Road. Turn
right (west) onto Salome Road and drive 5.2 miles to a fork at Courthouse Road.
 Take the left fork onto Courthouse Road and drive 2.2 miles to a dirt road to
the left. The dirt road is 0.2 miles past mile marker 13 on Courthouse Road.
After turning south onto the dirt road drive for 0.5 miles and there is an
opening on the left, this desert pavement is marked with a pile of rocks and a
tree stump.
