Next Friday, July 25, there will be a Senate briefing on light
pollution. Please consider encouraging Senator Kyl and Senator McCain to
attend this important briefing by sending them a quick note.
Now it's even easier to alert our Senators about the upcoming briefing.
Simply copy the text of the sample letter below (or write your own
letter) and paste it into an email or fax to their office. Contact
information listed below.
Thank you for taking this important step for the continuing effort to
preserve dark skies.

Sample Email to Senator
===================
Dear Senator [NAME]:
I am writing to urge you to attend the upcoming Senate briefing on light
pollution, hosted by the International Dark-Sky Association (IDA) on
Friday, July 25, 2008 in the Dirksen Senate Office Building, room 428
(Hearing Room of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and
Pensions). Light pollution is a fast growing problem with widespread
implications. In addition to destroying the nighttime environment and
our heritage of dark skies, light pollution has been linked to energy
waste, ecological disruption, and human health consequences.
Fortunately, most light pollution can be controlled by easily
implemented solutions. Many of these options will be explained in the
briefing. The first step toward action is to attend this educational
briefing. Please take the time to educate yourself or your staff by
attending the briefing on July 25, and add your name to the growing
number of Congressional entities concerned about the effects of
unchecked light pollution.
Sincerely,
[YOUR NAME]
