He simply disquised it so the spammers wouldn't get him.  Simple matter 
of replacing the appropriate characters
once you cut and paste into the "To:" field.

No blame was intended to anyone, as I've done it myself.  Simply hitting 
"reply" is a hard habit to break.  This is a new
feature to SAC and I think that everyone now knows the protocol, so we 
can kill this thread.
