[sac-forum] Saturday night at Antennas

I'm really bad with names (and I'm still meeting new folks in the club
at every outing. Advance apologies for omitting folks who were there.  I
saw faces, but don't have names to attach to them.

So, I just wanted to quickly comment on Saturday at the Antennae - far
from the pressure and frenetic pace of the marathoners.  Folks I'm sure
of on Saturday night were:  Dick Hershaw, Dave Fredericksen, Joe Goss,
Paul Lind, Lynn Blackburn, Al Steiwig.  Quite a few more were there, 10
vehicles, total, I believe for Saturday night - with Steve Coe's
unfortunate early departure.

It was a good night.  Seeing early on was surprisingly good and we were
awarded with decent views of Saturn.  Easy Cassini, 4 moons and the
"Crepe" ring.  Later, galaxy-hopping became a matter of simply deciding
which direction to aim your optics.  I had no trouble eeking surprising
details out of many of my target objects with my 10" dob.  Guess that
means that conditions were good.  Not sure how you'd quantify it.

Speaking of optics, Dave Fredericksen's little scope was a marvel to be
privileged to look through.  The view of M51 alone, as my son Noah
commented, was "mesmerizing".  It truly was.  I'm spoiled for life.
Thanks to Dave for his generosity with the eyepiece and overall good
nature.

And thanks to all there who made a one-nighter so worthwhile.  Sort of
reinforces the wisdom of my decision to join this club.
