Last night there were 9 vehicles and occupants that braved the windy conditions. Leading the way was Rascal, Tom and Jennifer followed by Ray Vorbeck, Matt Luttenin, Richard Payne, Al Stewing, Andrew Goodwin, Wes Edens, Ken Reeves and his visitor. By 11:00pm, when I left, only Ray and the Polakis's were left to brave the elements for the remainder of the night. After receiving some needed assistance to fix a power cable for my 8" SCT it was on to Sculptor. Thankfully this constellation was down wind from the prevailing winds and that contributed to rather steady viewing conditions. Unfortunately the wind and dust took its toll and not much detail was seen in any of the objects. Matt brought out a 10" f5 Dob to try, but much didn't seem to be accomplished because of the wind. We did accomplish to discuss much while waiting on the wind. And that was worth the price of admission. The amount of traffic on the dirt road approaching the site was more than expected. I counted 6 vehicles over the time I was there. This, by far, exceeds the one for each of the prior nights there. Looking forward to next weekend. Clear skies and no wind, aj
