[sac-forum] Re: SAC Maps (comments and corrections wanted)

Paul;

Yes is the general answer, but let me write it out more clearly.

The Hovatter Road exit off of I-10 west is about 100 miles from central
Phoenix and about 40 miles past the Palo Verde power plant. Take the
Hovatter Road exit (exit 53) and then turn left over the I-10 freeway.
Cross over the canal and take a sharp right turn just past the canal at a
large guard rail. Travel a very short distance parallel to the canal, 0.1
mile, and turn left onto a dirt road that goes past the communication
antennas. Do not go down the road marked with a "dead end" sign. Then go
through two washes and the site is on the left just after you come out of
the second wash. The turnoff to the site is 2.0 miles from the freeway.
The site is easy to spot because of an abandoned washing machine and
computer that have been shot to pieces at the large desert pavement that is
the observing site to the left of the dirt road.

That ought to be enough; we haven't had anyone have too much trouble finding
it;

I have the written directions to the site, but for a map I need other
features. How does the CAP canal relate to the directions?

The map I got from Andrew Goodwin and another from Google Maps labels the
canal as a road. Does the road after the right turn until the dead end
sign follow the south embankment of the canal?
