And another piece of tangent information, albeit a little more recent. See the NGC/IC Project page http://www.ngcic.org/dss/dss_n1700.asp and scroll down to the images for NGC1750, 1758 and 1746. Read the information posted by Crowin et al. It is very informative, interesting and illuminating [couldn't help this last one].
I would bookmark the home page here at http://www.ngcic.org/ and review this whenever there is a question about some NGC entry.

Just a tangental bit of info here. Recent investigations indicate NGC 1746 not a true cluster, although ngc 1750 and 1758 are.
