No one ever suggested having dinner at 5pm so you can breathe more
easily. No need to have a light breakfast, lunch, do extra exercises to
make room, etc. :-)
at such a function seems way too early to me. I'm sure I'll have no
problem paying attention to the speaker while anticipating dinner. ;-)
Personally, I don't need the club funding an open bar... if the
Challenger Center even has a liquor license. A cocktail before dinner
would be OK by me, but I'd happily pay for my own.
Jeff, you had some good ideas, but I have to wonder why you waited
until practically the 11th hour to step forward.
Of course Jeff can speak for himself but I think part of it is that we
haven't received that much information until recently. An example of
this is that I sent a message on Sept 2nd as to whether I will get some
kind of confirmation or ticket in the mail for the check I sent but none
of the officers or board members ever responded. It was only now after
someone a few days ago submitted a "two question" email that I decided
to resubmit my question again as a "one question" email. It was finally
answered yesterday. Thus, it took over a week to finally get some
information. Another example is that I just _recently_ learned the
speaker would speak _before_ the dinner. I would never have guessed
this, since although this might happen at other events, the _normal_
protocol is to have the speaker speak _after_ dinner.

No doubt the club can count on you to volunteer as part of the
planning committee for the 40th anniversary celebration.
