Stan: this statement just is not true.

Steve,
I do not know what you mean by this. Really. No where did I say this was never discussed at meetings. I merely said the details of the event are just now coming out, and even Rick just admitted "Things have only started to come together the past few weeks as we got confirmation from Dr. Davies that he would speak." With respect to the meetings, I live way up here near Prescott and so I do not attend many of them. This is one major reason I am seriously considering not rejoining next year, and your accusations merely cement my thoughts on this. Although I cannot attend many meetings (people scream about wasting gas to go to the Cherry Rd site almost next door to where I live and so I have an equally valid scream about traveling the same distance to attend a meeting) I have looked at the newsletters, and no where do I see anything about vigorous discussions you allude to. The only thing I see is a sentence in the July issue that members voted for a buffet. There may be others, but if so, nothing that documents the vigorous discussions you allude to.

So, in closing I reject your accusation that my statement was not true for the above facts and reasons.
Best Wishes.
Stan

There has been a discussion about this dinner at pretty much every meeting this year, with lots of questions asked and lots of answers given by the guy holding the gavel. I even joked with Rick after the most recent meeting that we have become a dinner club, not an astronomy club.

With an event like this, it is impossible for anyone to make everyone happy -- some want dinner at 5, some want dinner at 5:15, some want dinner at 5:30. Etc. The point is, Rick and the other few leaders who have helped him have arranged what looks to be a very nice event for all of us to attend. I am sure they welcome constructive criticism, but inaccurate complaints like this are just not helpful to any part of this process or to the club.

After the event, I guess we can take a vote on whether Rick's pay should be cut in half, from zero to half of zero.

Best regards,

Steve
