[sac-forum] Re: SAC 2008 Calendars

Understood Tim, and you raise a valid point.

However, the issue here doesn't involve file creation - the recipients just need to be able to open the files made available on the club's website. The PDF should be readable by everyone - Adobe provides a free reader application for Mac and PC users. And various readers are available for Unix and Linux as well. I have ePDFViewer, KPDF, xpdf and eDocument Viewer on my Ubuntu (Gutsy Gibbon) system.

Thanks, Peter. However, I was thinking much further than just this one instance. Having PDF is definitely the best solution, but not everyone on a PC can generate a PDF file (unlike the Mac). That's why I mentioned RTF. Every version of Word all the way back to Office 95 would generate RTF (including Wordpad), and every text processor that works on modern OSes can display them properly.

However, if a PDF *can* be generated, that should suffice for the 99.9% of us.
