[sac-forum] Re: Raising the Roof

Thanks, Steve! I'll put you down on the list. More details to follow as the
raising day draws near.

Dick,

I responded once to this e-mail but I don't think it went through. Sorry if
you get the same thing twice.

I should be available to help the 8th. I enjoyed chatting with you, Chris,
and Al and Saturday. I looked for Stephan's quartet after you showed it to
me in your scope but could not id the 14th magnitude galaxies. NGC 7331 was
easy to find but the others are at the theorectical limits of my 10" scope
and beyond my skills at this point. I'll certainly try for them another
night. Thanks for the look and info. Let me know if you still need help
with your roof.

Subject: [sac-forum] Raising the Roof

In the near future, I plan on "raising the roof" on my new observatory, an
8ft x 10ft Tuff Shed that was modified and built to my specs (to comply
with our HOA rules and regs) and setting it on track rails.

The rails are built, the track is ready. I just need a good weekend and
some willing hands and backs to help me lift the roof off the shed and set
it onto the track system. It should take us about 2 hours, more or less.

Since this coming weekend is a good observing weekend, I don't want to do it
this weekend. I'd like to aim for next weekend, November 8 (Saturday). If
you can help out that day (I'd like to do a late morning start, say around
10:00 am), please contact me off-list (rharshaw2@xxxxxxx) and let me know if
you can make it. I'll need to give you directions and the code to our
development's gate.

In the spirit of SAC camaraderie, I'd like to do this like those old Amish
barn raisings you see in movies-why not bring something to contribute to a
group lunch? I'll provide the burgers and bratts, if some of you can
provide buns, chips, soft drinks, beer, potato salad, slaw, baked beans
(please work downwind of the rest of us), and so on.

I could use five helpers, and if you'd like to supervise, feel free to tag
along (just don't give us TOO much advice).

Thanks for any help you can contribute.
