[sac-forum] Pot Luck Star Party on July 3rd

On July 3rd don’t miss, at my place, seeing a 820 lb 39 inch wide man 
made object (the Impactor) hurtle on its way to Comet Tempel at a speed 
of 6.3 mi/sec and then smashing into the comet at approximately 10:52 
pm, possibly resulting in stupendous fireworks – Fountains, Cones, 
Sparklers, Spinners, Wheels, Umbrellas, Roman Candles, etc. !!! (I don’t 
think I’m exaggerating. The June S&T did say “…fireworks the likes of 
which have never been seen before…”)

On July 3rd, a Sunday, I am having a pot-luck star party-gathering at my 
place. Comet Tempel will be about 22 degrees above the horizon at the 
time of impact and so it will easily be visible at my place for 
telescope observation. Bring whatever you would like for the pot luck, 
but if you want to observe the comet at the time of impact you need to 
bring a telescope. I am near Prescott, about 7 miles SE in a straight 
line, and about 15 miles west of the SAC Cherry Road observing site. 
Those of you who have been here before know I am in a rural area and my 
lot is large enough for anyone who may want to stay overnight and drive 
back the next day.
