Actually, it seems this guy isn't such wacko.  He appears to be just a guy
trying to figger out what he's seeing.  Here's his response...

Hi Thad,
       Thanks for the response.  I probably should have given you a little
personal background.  I am an ex Navy aircrewman and a private pilot. I have
many hundreds of night flight hours, as well as first hand knowledge of
flares, weather balloons, and other aircraft running and recognition lights.
I have been an avid Arizona sky gazer for many years and am aware of other
planets, etc.  What we have been observing for the last 5-6 months is none
of the above.  Thanks for your time.

Anyhow, I sent a few of the replies back to him, and gave him the addy for
the Heavens above site.  Hopefully that will help him.  I also suggested he
get a compass and get some bearings with time and dates for the object he's
seeing in the evening.
