[sac-forum] Re: On Binoculars and Mounts

Paul & Steve D.,

I use an older fine tune mount atop a basic steady tripod mount form my
bino's and small spotting scopes. It has alt/az fine tune adj. and works great
at star partys for the kids to few thru the bino's. If you want I can try and
take several photo's and email them to you. It is almost impossible to
describe the mount (however I had showed Steve D. a while back the mount with
some viewfinders I had, etc.). Not sure if he remembers it or not. It is
similar to a bogen/manfrotto multi-adj. tripod mount head. Well let me know.
I will try to attend Paul's next ATM mtg and bring it with me. Like I said it
works great (even at full power with my bino's 10-30x50 Zoom). Take care,

  Steve Palmer

Thanks for the pics. I should be able to generate something by the next ATM
meeting (I hope). I could make a parts list for interested parties so they
could bring them and all we'd have to do is drill holes and stuff. :-)

{page:Section1;} Ok, it sounds like there's interest. I don't believe
pictures can be attached here, and I don't have a site for posting them. I'll
go ahead and send them to those who responded. Beevo didn't seem to mind
sharing them. Basically, his mount is meant to attach to the camera screw on a
sturdy camera tripod. The really nice thing is that it folds up really small.
Oh, Steve, one thing that doesn't show in the picture is the upper part of the
steel pin that screws onto the tripod head. It fits inside the vertical part
shown, and I believe it serves as the main support and bearing surface on which
the mount rotates. Wait a second and I'll send the pix.
