Here is a suggestion for some extra observing for the next 10 days or so.
The suggestion is to observe in Corona Australis, but only if you are up
between midnight and 1:30am, when it is on or just past the central meridian.
There's not much there, but here are some suggestions
NGC6541 a globular cluster at -43° declination.
NGC6723 another globular, but just across the border in Sagittarius so
let's do it anyway!
NGC6726/7/29 & IC 4812, bright nebulae and just 30' southeast of NGC6723.
IC 1297 a planetary nebula located towards the eastern part of the
constellation.
Bernes 157 - dark nebula located at RA 19 02.9 Dec -37 08.
Finally, just to get one more is the double star gamma.
Remeber all have very low declinations, around -40° so we'll have to wait until
the constellation is near, or at, the central meridian.
The motivation for this is a "Call for Observations" article sometime in the
spring, instead of the usual galaxies. But we will need some observations for
this to take place. Next month I'll ask around, via e-mail, to see how much
has been done and then make decision.
Keep in mind, if you don't get a chance this weekend, perhaps we can try this
another time. I'll keep you posted.
