[sac-forum] Re: National Astronomy Day - Night summary

Tony,

Glad your event went well, Thunderbird was also a success. The crowds didn't
thin out until about 2130, Venus, the Moon & Saturn were the "Stars" of the
evening and guests also got to see Mars, Some double Stars (Alcor & Mizar in
my scope) and deep sky objects. Our guest also got mesmerized by the
International Space Station which made a pass at 2040. The pass ended about
halfway across the sky as the ISS passed into the Earth's shadow.

We broke down around 2200 and several of us went for our traditional after
Thunderbird SP dinner at TGIFriday's.

I posted Some pictures of the event on my facebook page:

Subject: [sac-forum] National Astronomy Day - Night summary

Hello everyone,

Just touching base on National Astronomy Day - Night.

We did planetarium programs, solar viewing and a stargazing event at the
Challenger Space Center.

The daytime attendance was more than 200 people.

The doors opened for the stargazing at 6 PM and we did not leave until after
11 PM.

We did a little solar viewing until the sunset then the evening stargazing.

We had a nice attendance almost 300 people.

Hope the Thunderbird Park program went well.

Tony LaConte
