FW: Maricopa County Text Amendment - Outdoor light control provisionTA2008004Please get this message out to your astronomy clubs, your Mayors/community representatives and to anyone you know with an interest. As we are all painfully aware, the lighting code of Maricopa County affects the entire state and beyond. Business owners have been convinced by a lobbyist for the billboard industry that light pollution is some kind right even though you can get just as good and better effects without trying to out-do the night sky. Even if you are not an astronomer, it is important to preserve a night sky to spark curiosity in our children and to make and keep the sky beautiful with abundant stars for everyone to enjoy. Light pollution is the easiest pollution to remedy plus by _not_ lighting up the sky, a lot of energy can be saved and carbon emissions reduced. Please read through this forwarded message and the links. Please attend the meeting and voice your opinion; please contact Patty Zaricor, AICP, Planner via email at pattyzaricor@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx or by calling 602-506-8358 with your questions and opinions. Please.
