[sac-forum] Re: Lunar Observing Tonight - yes tonight

Here's my update from last night. The nature call came in at a very acceptable
2:00am. Got up and started to go outside and, with hand on door knob, realized
the house alarm needed to be turned OFF! After doing so and going outsided
there was a large cloud bank covering most of the sky from south to east. The
moon displayed a rather bright halo from some thin visible clouds. Feeling the
thin cloud layer would impact observing I went inside, turned the alarm back on
and went to bed.

Oh mannnn! This makes Cherry Rd II look better and better. I'll check the
weather around lunch time to see what it looks like.

Subject: [sac-forum] Lunar Observing Tonight - yes tonight

My plan is to get up around 2:30AM, set the scope out in backyard and spend
an hour or so observing entries in the SAC 110 Lunar List. I'll pick the ones
favored for something like 6 days after full moon.

My plan on getting up at this time cannot include setting an alarm that would
wake up my wife and that cannot be done. So to implement the plan I'll drink
about 8 oz of water in hopes there is a call of nature around the preferred
time.

Looking at these familiar craters and mountain chains with the sun on the
other side of the moon produces interesting shadows not see with a waxing moon
surface. I was struck by the shadows from Rupes Altai the other night,
somthing not seen with a waxing moon.

I'll let you know if I wake up and am alert enough to setup the scope and
observe for an hour or so.
