[sac-forum] Re: Looking for an ETX-90 Base

Darrell,
Check out the fellow in Meadeview, AZ -- Telescope Warehouse. He always seems to have lots of Meade ETX stuff for sale. If he doesn't have it on his web pages, call him. I hesitate to suggest Don Rothman (Teletrade), as his JUNK is always overpriced, and evidently you have already found a couple of "bargains" in that line.... And RTMC is coming up... usually many opportunities to find stuff at the swap meet.
Cheers,

Here's the story: I've now checked into both Meade and eBay. Meade will repair the base for $150, and there's a fellow on eBay who supposedly has a base for the low, low "Buy It Now" price of $185. I had sort of hoped to get lucky again and find a "surplus" unit.

Thanks for the leads, guys. For now, I've got the OTA on a Bogen Tripod/Head combo and life is good. Still a good grab-n-go. Could be better with Autostar and tracking . . .

Sorry if this is inappropriate for this forum, but after picking up what I thought was a steal for an ETX-90AT, I find that the azimuth drive circuit is blown in the base. Before going to either Meade (or eBay) I thought I'd ask if anyone has pulled the OTA from a base and would like to sell that base. Needs to interface to Autostar #497 - and have working drive circuits.

Have you contacted Meade? They're not the best at solving software issues on the PC side, but they're pretty aggressive and successful in making sure the hardware works.
