Dan, yes it is good to have two different size telescopes for comparison sake.
I often refer back to ones from my old 8" f6 Newtonian for reference not to
mention the current 8" f10 SCT. Then, of course, there's Steve Coe who has had
about 6, maybe 7, telescopes.
Like you, I also like the smaller scope because it is easier to manage and
makes the larger appreciated more.

AJ, I did get most of the way through the SCO list before everything got too

PS. I used my new "grab-and-go" 8SE, so I don't have as much detail as usual.
The 8" is very convenient for monsoon nights and star parties, but I appreciate
how much more I can see with the 18".
