[sac-forum] Re: Help with RS232

I sell one on my web site
http://www.astronomystores.net/store/cart.php?target=product&product_id=288&;
category_id=75
And I give SAC members a 8.1% discount. Pay the taxes. This adapter has
the largest buffering available in any of the USB to RS232 adapters. I have
sold several to other SAC members at the club meetings, but do to medical
problems I have not been able to make the last 3 months meeting. Use the
Coupon code SAC_MEMBER to receive the discount.

I guarantee that this adapter will work with your telescope/mount and
computer. Please stay away from the Belken, I can quote case after case
where people have had trouble with these. I got 2 customers that could not
undate their Meade mounts using the Belken and purchase the above adapters
and was able to update the Meade the first try.

Subject: [sac-forum] Help with RS232

Hi, all!

I often use TheSky linked to my laptop with an RS-232 cable using the
laptop's serial port.

Last month, my laptop went to the great Mother Board in the Sky and I had to
get a new one. The new ones don't have serial ports, just a zillion USB
ports.

I know that there is a way to convert an RS-232 serial port plug to USB, but
I don't know the part numbers or the steps in the process. Does anyone here
have any experience with this problem, and if so, can you direct me to the
part numbers and a source so I can get the laptop and C-11 back on speaking
terms again?

Thanks in advance!
