[sac-forum] Re: GoogleEarth Image centered on Hovatter Rd (I-10 Exit 53)

Gene;

You have it, the Hovatter Road site is almost exactly 2 miles south of I-10
at exit 53, there are the "Three Towers" radio antennas that you will pass
along the way, then through two washes and as you just come out on the south
side of the hills, you will see a large desert pavement to the left (east)
and there is a washing machine someone discarded there to mark the site;-)

I saw the sign for the 75E trailer park, it might be worth investigating.
At least maybe a reasonable price for a shower? The Tonapah and Vicksburg
Road truck stops are on I-10 and the site is between them, if you wanted a
hot meal or a chance to buy supplies.

I would hope that we can keep this a club site and not have the location
spread all around the state. That may not be possible, but I would like to
keep it to ourselves for a while, anyway.

Steve

Welllll...... Now that I look into it a bit, I note that Hovatter Rd.
(Exit 53) is way west of Ave 75E (Exit 69)(I was thinking it was closer
to PHX). From the exit nos. on I-10 (corresponds to mileage east from
the AZ-CA border or the Colorado River), Hovatter is about 16 miles
further west. Makes it even darker, likely a good spot for "Bedouin" or
tail-gate astronomy.

Take a look at the attached pic and describe where you guys set up.
Maybe at the end of the N-S stretch of Hovatter? I can't get a feel for
the scale of this photo from Google Earth.
