[sac-forum] [Fwd: Re: Meade DSI CD- Bad]

I had sent the message below yesterday but it never got posted. I just discovered the problem. I had trouble with my ASU email address over the weekend and so I substituted my commspeed address which is not subscribed to SAC-Forum.

Although this subject is already in the past, I would like to submit this for the record. As a follow up, it appears some people have been told by someone in Meade that they have to go to a dealer to get a replacement for a damaged cd. This is not Meade's policy because the dealer does not have the disks. Only Meade does and so the correct procedure is to contact them and they will send a replacement.

Since I have two Meade telescopes I have an interest in seeing that they survive, but besides this I think it is a very good company, has good products, and has reasonable support. I have heard of bad experiences with Meade every once in awhile, but my experiences with them have always been good. It may be that a customer who calls might get someone who is new on the job, or maybe there is some kind of miscommunication.

I assume you are talking about the Autostar Suite? I am sure if you call customer support at Meade's 1-800 number they will gladly send you a replacement. If you already have the suite, you won't get anything different by updating it from Meade's web site vs. getting another disk.

I got a Meade DSI and the darn CD is bad. I sure would be grateful if
someone in the Peoria or Glendale would allow me to make a copy of theirs.
