Howdy SAC;
Well, I had about 20 people show up at the very impromptu Mars party at my
house. We observed the Red Planet and the Moon through the 7 inch Maksutov and
enjoyed several hours of astronomy chat. The seeing was at about 6 out of 10,
good but not great. Some detail in Sytris Major, Sinus Meridianii and the limb
of the very small polar cap could be observed at 275X with an orange filter.
On the Moon, the crater Petavius showed lots of detail in its slumped walls and
multiple central peaks.
All in all a very fun night. And I have very little clean up to do before my
wife returns from Chicago.
Take Care;
Steve Coe
