There has been a good bit of discussion concerning this weekends trip on the SAC form and I'd like to pass on some information. SAC is going to rent a port-a-potty from Little Stinker in Pine, per request from the Forest Service. Cost is $150 for Friday through Sunday. We have made it clear to the Forest Rangers there is no intent of driving onto the meadow, we will leave our vehicles in the tree line and move the scopes for setup. If you have an extra folding table or some such device, then that may be a very handy item to have near the telescope; especially if you are a tad farther from your vehicle than normal. Try to avoid using the same tire tracks when driving off the dirt road. Just offset some to disperse the tracks and minimize the effect of our being there. I also promised I'd post these basic rules.... NO open flames. Smoking in vehicles only. NO going to the middle of the meadow. Whenever you park, make sure that you are not parked on vegatation high enough to contact your catalytic converter/muffler. Gas grills OK, but raking area of dried vegatation is HIGHLY recommended. Other than the above the Forest Service seems happy about our using the site so let's try and not disappoint. Hope this doesn't sound to preachy but I thought it better for us to know what to expect before getting there than to be surprised once we arrived.
