[sac-forum] Re: Draco & Sagittarius

Hey, it was cloudy up here in Cave Creek, too. I'm going out in the back
yard tonight for some observing-- mostly getting caught up on my sketches of
the brighter stuff (double stars, star clusters).

I wonder if any of that schmuz was due to the Ethan fire?

I can recall the Nebraska Star Party 2002 where the big fires in Colorado
sent their smoke to our site about 2:00 AM on Wednesday night. It was really
weird! Skies as dark and pristine as you could ever imagine, then as
suddenly as if a switch had been thrown, the transparency dropped two
magnitudes and the seeing went from steady to shaky. Wow!

You wouldn't think that if you had come down to Pinnacle Peak last
night - not a star in sight and enough cloud cover to make you feel
like you were in a large casino before the smoking bans.
