[sac-forum] Re: Digital setting circle question

Steve, many folks beat me to the punch in answer to your question and there is
little that can be added, although I do have a question for you. Is the DSC a
Sky Commander or some other brand? While I'm very partial to the SC all DSC's
that I've seen are pretty accurate at finding objects provided, of course,
there aren't any cockpit errors. Some interfaces are more intuative than
others but they all easily find objects in the sky. Certainly put a halt to
the art of star hopping. Yet there are some that have stayed with it. One
that quickly comes to mind is Chris Hanrahan.

BTW, you can go to the site at http://www.skyeng.com/ and download the manual,
if that is where your interest is located. :))

Let us know if you need more information.

  Howdy,
Here's a question, maybe technical, about DSC's such as Sky Commander. If
I remember right, they mount on an alt/az Dob and calculate the position of
objects in Altitude and Azimuth. What happens when you put the alt/az mount on
a platform? Is the calculation still purely alt/az, or is the DSC informed
somehow and adjusts the algorithm? If I'm totally wet, let me know.

  Thanks.
