Steve,
NOt sure aboyut other brands, but the Sky commander has an internal clock that
keeps track of time and adjsut the coods as the sky moves. When you put the
scope on an EQ platform, there is an option to turn the clock off. With Sky
Commander, there is a reset option that keps track of the motion of the
platform. If done right, you won't have to realign the scope after a platform
reset. I think SC is the only DSC (I could be and probably am wrong) that has
that feature.
