Yes, this scope is going be optimized for planetary use. However,
with a ~ 50 min fov at 100x with my 26 Nagler it will also be nice on
galaxies and planetary nebulas.

But it's really for Mars this summer.

99" *includes* the secondary shortening. I am not a fan of ladders, but
I hope the pain will be worth it. 

I am looking at building a platform similar to what Thad and Chuck have.
It would have a top position of 36", so a step stool is needed to get up
there!

Don't forget to subtract the shortening due to the secondary.  An
average
person might be just two to three feet off the ground.  This is why fast
optics tend to be prefered.

Is this going to be for planet viewing?
