[sac-forum] Re: Curious

Dave,

Thanks for the kind words about SACnews. I'm glad you enjoy it.

I tend to agree that those interested in the AL can join as a MAL. Again, it
can be brought up to the board, but for my 6.11500 Armenian Drams, I don't
think it will garner much support.

Well its ya'll's club, I'm just a member, but I don't see the point in a

club as big and successful as the SAC, as well run, as well respected in its

own right, with its own vibrant and rewarding awards programs, with a fine

monthly newsletter that is better reading in my humble opinion than the

Reflector... I just don't see what in the universe it does for the SAC to

seek AL affiliation. If someone wants the bling they can just join the AL

as a member-at-large like I did and forward the logbook. Badda-bing,

badda-boom, badda-bang, there comes the bling.... drop-shipped to the door.

Why tie the SAC to it? Its like a federal government when you are an

independant state, it can only lead to tenticles of outside influence, and

unless you really need it I think it should be avoided. Frankly the SAC is

so good on its own, other astronomy clubs should be seeking SAC affiliation

:-)
