[sac-forum] Re: Curious

Hey, Dave, I am a friend of Scott Kranz.  We have observed together many times 
in the Midwest.

As a former member of the Astronomical Society of Kansas City, a League club, I 
can vouch for the spurious value to SAC of belonging.  The main thing is the 
observing programs, and SAC has a much better collection (IMHO) than the AL, 
especially the latest AL programs (planetary nebulae, open clusters).

I'm also an AL "member at large", so no offense to the AL.  Folks in the AL 
like Brenda and Dave Branchett, Scott Kranz, and Steven Nathan have all been 
very helpful to me. But as a member of both, I don't see that the SAC would 
gain anything with an AL affiliation.
