I was prompted to join in on your consolation, so I popped in to the store
and secured a six-pack of Harvest Moon Pumpkin Ale (a seasonal brew from
Blue Moon).

myself further with another beer....

The Cherry Road DOTM Star Party was an outstanding success. Plenty of
laughs, party snacks, what a great time. Observers worked on thier very
bright, named star observing lists, etc. At some points deep space
objects
such as the summer triangle could be made out using averted vision.
General
discussions outside of great bands of the 60's, included Jupiter's
massive
nebulosity, The discovery that Anteries is in fact a very short period,
highly variable star and how to tell the difference between the milkyway
and
a cloud using the reflected lightning bolt principal. By 10 PM such
massive
volumes of this new data had been collected that we packed it up and
hauled
it all home.....
See you at the All-Arizona....

At 7 pm Jimmy Ray, Andrew Goodwin, Jack Jones and I had not set up any
of our scopes due to cloud cover. At that point I offered to be the
sacrificial lamb and leave. I'm home now and I trust that the others
are
enjoying a pleasant night of observing. Sigh. I'm going to console
myself with a beer.

It is very interesting to note from the current cloud cover animation
that
the cloud cover that has been headed directly to Cherry Rd appears to
be
taking a hard right turn. If this continues it should miss Cherry Rd.
Hopefully Dan will find others there besides himself. Perhaps Meteora
doesn't have the spell we thought she had.
Clear skies to Dan,

From Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary:
Wench--
1 a. A young woman : girl (not bad)
1 b. A female servant (uh-oh)
2. A lewd woman : prostitute (that did it)
I'll probably leave for Cherry around 4 pm. It's closer, cooler, and
further from the storms developing around here. If it's not decent up
there by moonset, I'll leave.

Well, the weather has taken a decided turn for the worse - storms are
currently lined up from Lukeville to I-10 and headed north.
Plans for Cherry are now on hold and looking unlikely.

Andrew,
I think the weather looks benign enough that I can safely say that
Steve
and
I will arrive at Cherry 5:30-ish and stay until 'round midnight if
that
fickle wench Meteora permits it.
As mentioned last night, it will be a small scope/binocular night for
us
in
recognition that the weather may change and the seeing will likely be
mediocre.
See you there?

So far the CSC looks better at the Antenna Site than the Cherry
site.

We just have to play it by ear until around noon. But at this time
cherry looks like a bust.
Ok on you plan to come over there
I will call you to confer on where we go around noonish.

Andrew,
Don't worry about reversing the plan. If it's going to turn out
that
Cherry Road is better and will be a social event as much as an
observation
session, let's go there. The only change we would need to see if we
could
work out would be to have your Mrs. drop you off here around 1:30
so
you
could party with us until 4 and we could get out of here. I could
drop
you
back off at your house Sunday morning...
