Here it is, almost time for another SAC star party and time to post objects for the June Newsletter so here they are. June is getting close to the summer Milky Way, but in keeping with constellation placement past the central meridian, it is a tad to early for that. So we will include Ursa Major for a second time because there is just so much to be seen there and it does have a surprise for us. For ease of locating, the objects are not in NGC or Messier order, they are ordered in groupings in the constellation to minimize star hop distance. That will start us off with NGC2976, a galaxy about 1.4 degrees southwest from, easy tofind, M81. Next hope to NGC3231 located at 10h 27.5m +66° 48’, which is about 2 degrees north of northeast from 32 Ursa Majoris, this might be a challenge, or a surprise, for us. Keeping with the galaxy theme, we next go to NGC3079. Now you can sweep east to Merak, also known as beta UrsaMajoris, and finally to the edge-on galaxy M108 and the planetary nebula M97. Let's hope the weather does us a favor and we get to make lots and lots of observations. Unfortunately I'm not going to be available for this Saturday night. Sunday might be a possibility and I'll just have to wait and see. Clear skies, aj
