This past Saturday night there were three folks out at Sentinel, Steve and
Rosie Dodder and myself.
I arrived really late, about half an hour before astronomical twilight. The
Dodder's were already set up and ready for action. Probably the view of the
night was looking at the crescent moon very close to the horizon via Rosie's
6" f/9.5. Atmospheric distortions created a wonderful optical illusion of
the moon contorting.
I went to lay down for 5 minutes at around 11pm. Sometime around 2am I woke
up to find dew on everything. I haven't seen that much dew since observing
in the Midwest. At that hour the sky looked amazingly transparent and the
surrounding area had a soft "whitish" glow, presumably from the winter Milky
Way. I enjoyed the naked-eye views for a while before retiring again.
I'm assuming a good time was had at Antennas. ?
