True, and for a potentially large settlement, many a strong opinion has been
generated and sincerely held, all the way up to the end of the litigation.

As in many things, there are many varied opinions.  

That being said, imagine if humans had never set out on the ocean because
"it would transgress on nature".  I personally feel that pushing our
"natural" boundaries opens up new, mostly good, possibilities.

On the flip side, there are other boundary pushing things that scare the
crap out of me.  Scientists creating their own black hole, 
and robots that build themselves to name a couple....
