As I kept insisting, it would be and is a good and beautiful night. Jeff
Hopkins just left after coming up to help me on something. At nightfall
it completely cleared off, except for a few fleeting clouds to the north
and here and there, like I said it would. As I had indicated in one of
my earlier messages the transparency looked like it would be better than
I had earlier expected and it certainly is. The sky at this moment is
very dark and stars nice and bright. Jupiter is very bright. Jeff hadn't
seen it that bright before. You all missed a cool and great night by not
going to Cherry!

This is not the rim or Happy Jack. It still it looks like it will be
good tonight. In fact, if it continues the way it is going the
transparency will not be as bad as I thought. It keeps continuing to
clear up very well to the NW, west and south. The only heavy clouds are
toward the NE and the rim. From here the winds are from the NW, not
from the east or NE (opps, I just went outside. Now it is calm).
However, I am not encouraging anyone to come up to the Cherry site. It
could always go the other way, but I sure doubt it. You might have some
limited viewing toward the NE, but there should be plenty of good
viewing in other parts of the sky. This is just my opinion which is my
disclaimer. Of course if it does turn out to be a good night I will be
sure to let everyone know they missed out. :-)

Now the 75 % is covered with clouds and the wind is really blowing has been
all afternoon. Moving from the rim and to the west... There are still high
clouds in-between the big ole dark puffy clouds.... Hard to say what it is
going to do.
