[sac-forum] ATM meeting Tuesday -- Interferometry Demo

The ATM/ Astro-imaging group will meet at my house Tuesday (Nov 11), starting
at 6 PM.

There's been some interest at the ATM meetings in the funny looking instrument
on my tool cabinet. That's my Shack Interferometer. So, I have set it up to
demonstrate interferometric testing of a Pierre Schwaar 14.5 inch mirror at the
meeting. This mirror has not yet seen starlight, but soon will. I'll give a
15 minute explanation about the test, and then we can view fringes directly.
Fringe photography and data reduction take a little time, but maybe we can fit
this in also. Otherwise I'll cheat by showing results I've already obtained on
the mirror. There should also be plenty of time to work on projects.

Directions:
ADDRESS: 210 W. Tierra Buena Lane, Phoenix. That's about 1 mile south of Bell
Rd and 1/2 mile west of 7th St. Local streets are discontinuous.

Coming up 7th St from the south, turn west on Coral Gables (which is 1 mile S.
of Bell or 1 mile N. of Thunderbird). Go 1/2 mile west and turn north (right)
on Central Av. Continue three blocks north and turn west again (left) on
Tierra Buena. Go one full block, then we're in the second house on the right.
My red Tahoe is usually in front and there may be some scopes in the driveway.
Alternatively, from the 101 north of here, go south about 3 miles on 7th
street to Coral Gables, then west as above.

Give us a call if you can't find us.
See ya,
