Please do not reply to a message and then change the subject line.  There
is more to a reply than an Re: in the subject line.

Every message has unique Message-Id: in the header.  When you reply, the
value in this header is copied into References: or In-Reply-To: fields of
the new message.  This allows people to change the topic of a thread
without actually breaking the thread.  It also allows a new thread of the
same subject.

Of course, early Microsoft product did not do this when replying.  Their
more recent E-mail products now do.  Your version of MS Outlook Express
(5.00.2314.1300) obviously does work correctly.
