Howdy all;
Just a reminder that we are going to try a later date for a trip to 5 Mile
Meadow near Happy Jack, Az. Seeing as how the draught caused the closing of
the forest for the previous date, we can reset and try again.
The new date is Sept. 22 and 23 and I will give full details as we get
closer.
The good news is that date is NOT Labor Day and that it is after the usual
end of the Monsoons, so we have a chance at a good night, or even two. The
other good news is that during that time of year the Summer Milky Way is
straight overhead once it is good and dark. So, get out that observing list
for Cygnus, Aquila, Lyra, Scutum and Sagittarius. I promise you will not
run out of things to observe.
The bad news is that, from the point of view of Phoenicians, it will be
CHILLY. Bring that extra blanket and thick socks, you will need them. Mr.
President, I will put together a short show and tell on staying warm for the
Sept. meeting.
I know that I am posting this on Az-observing, so those of you in the Great
North, don't laugh at us from the flatlands.
Hope to see you there, mark that calendar;
Steve Coe
