[sac-forum] Re: 2004 YD5: Close call

It was discovered from images supplied by the Kitt Peak Fast Moving Objects
program by Stan Pope, an old high school friend of my brother's in the Peoria
(IL) Astronomical Society and ex-coworker at Caterpillar. He just finished his
FMO program training in November.

Apparently, 2004 YD5 passed by the Earth at 0.093 LD (Lunar Distance).
This is within geostationary orbit.

It was a very small asteroid, but it wasn't seen until it passed us
because it came towards us from the sunward direction.
