[sac-board] Re: [sac-announce] September SAC Meeting this Friday (September 20th)

The SAC-Board is a good place to get the attention of the club's officers
as well as some of the membership (which is why I'm forwarding this
message there).

I guessing you mean SAC's Deep-Sky Database, rather than SAC's Double-Star
Database, or even SAC's Membership Database (the latter is what I think AJ
is refering to in his reply [which the SAC-Board list did not see] that
Steve Coe is over-seeing).

I would be a little premature to plan on including something with the
database that does not yet exist? After the observations are collected,
then they can been added to the database.

Checking observations isn't necessary except for those who attempt to
outright trash the database with garbage. Anyone can filter these. As for
checking whose observations are correct? You REALLY need to attend a
Deep-Sky Group meeting. Nobody fully describes things the same way (or
same color :-).

Perhaps an open BLOG indexed off objects in the database. I'm sure
there's lots of blogging software available for web servers.

Does the observations have to be limited to only SAC member? It's the
sharing that makes the hobby more interesting.

Perhaps a physical meeting at some time/place is in order since it looks
Stan won't make it tothe October board meeting. The meeting would be just
for what's going on with the web site. That way Steve can explain what
he's having done.
