[sac-board] Re: Webpage Deep Sky or Deep Something Question

GULP!!! Folks Jack is correct.

I did some research into this and discovered the February and March 2000 SAC
Newsletters where in the latter periodical lists the 1000 objects prior to
Beyond the NGC. And references the prior three lists as being in eligible for
the 1000 new objects. That leaves the Beyond NGC as possible for being
included in the 1000.

So, the Newsletter and the web site are at odds with each other and some
resolution is necessary.

Here's what I'd like to do . . . make the web site as it is today the
standard, afterall we're only cutting out another 110 objects.

Just for reference, what I'm proposing is, the objects in Beyond the NGC will
not be able to be used for the 1000, just like the Messier, Best NGC and
Herschel; making four lists instead of the three referenced by Jack.

Having said the above, does this cause anyone any problems with the 1000
objects? If so, let me know and I'll make a very reasonable decision.

To make sure no one else gets confused, perhaps some wording should be added to
the web site to indicate it takes precedent over prior rules - and then date
the statement.

Just as an FYI, each of these lists, Beyond NGC and 1000 objects, have had but
one award; they are, respectively, AJ Crayon and Steve Coe. It certainly would
be good to hear someone else is working these lists.

Hope this helps,
aj
