When I go to the movies or to a restaurant, I don't usually get asked to sign a waiver. If I get hit by a meteor while eating, I probably won't have a case. But if I slip in a puddle of gravy and bust my coccyx I probably would have one. As for a star party, again getting hit by a meteor, no problem . . . "Act of God" But if I get run over while taking a dump in a porta-potty that someone had placed in the middle of a driving area and encouraged attendees to "drive through with your lights off after dark" I wouldn't need Matlock to win the case. Another source of a lawsuit is poor directions to a star party. To publish confusing (or even incorrect) directions for people to follow into the open desert at night is just asking for it. I think any directions published need to be very clear, easy to follow and most of all, accurate! These directions should be checked with a proper odometer and any landmarks should be checked to make sure they are really there. Food for thought. Jeff
